The June Skin Reset: Preparing Your Skin for Heat, Sun & Travel
June has always felt special to me. Not only is it my birthday month, but being born on the summer solstice has always made me feel deeply connected to this season — longer days, warmer evenings, travel plans, glowing skin, and a noticeable shift in energy.
As we move into summer, our skin changes right alongside us. The routines and treatments that supported your skin through cooler months may suddenly start feeling too heavy, too aggressive, or simply not as effective.
Between sun exposure, heat, travel, air conditioning, and schedule changes, summer places a unique amount of stress on the skin barrier. This is often when clients begin noticing dehydration, congestion, dullness, uneven texture, and increased pigmentation.
The good news is that healthy summer skin is not about doing more — it is about supporting the skin differently.
Why Skin Changes During Summer
As temperatures rise, your skin naturally produces more oil. At the same time, increased UV exposure, heat, sweating, and dehydration can leave skin feeling inflamed, reactive, and unbalanced.
Summer skin requires a different approach than winter skin. Instead of focusing on heavy correction, this is the season to focus on protection, hydration, and balance.
Oily Skin Can Still Be Dehydrated
One of the most common concerns I see during summer is dehydrated skin disguised as oily skin.
This is where combining antioxidants with hyaluronic acid becomes especially important during warmer months.
Favorite summer hydrators include PCA Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum, SkinMedica HA⁵ Rejuvenating Hydrator, and SkinCeuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier Multi-Glycan. These formulas replenish hydration while maintaining a lightweight feel ideal for summer skin.
Summer Is Not the Time to Over-Treat the Skin
During summer, the skin is already working harder to defend itself against heat, UV exposure, and environmental stress.
I recommend lightweight, consistent exfoliation that helps maintain smooth texture and brightness without creating irritation.
Favorite summer exfoliation options include PCA Daily Exfoliant, Shireen Skin Probiotic Enzyme Mask, and Shireen Skin Lysis Mechanical Scrub.
Why Antioxidants and SPF Matter More in Summer
Daily antioxidant protection helps defend the skin against free radical damage, inflammation, and premature collagen breakdown caused by UV exposure and heat.
Favorite summer recommendations include SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic, SkinBetter Alto Defense Serum, SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion SPF 50, and Jane Iredale Powder-Me SPF.
SPF alone is not enough. Antioxidants work alongside sunscreen to help minimize oxidative stress and support healthier skin long term.
My Favorite Summer Facial Treatments
One of my favorite treatments this time of year is DiamondGlow Dermalinfusion because it combines exfoliation, extraction, and targeted serum infusion while supporting hydration and skin clarity simultaneously.
Treatments focused on gentle resurfacing and hydration can dramatically improve how the skin looks and feels without excessive downtime.
